USAGE :
The past continuous is used to describe an action which was ongoing at a specific time in the past, or to describe the context of another action.
EXAMPLES :
I was sitting next to your old boss at lunch yesterday.
I was working for FELIX POTAIN when I met my first wife.
We were just talking about internal promotions when you came in.
She wasn’t listening to what I was saying.
We weren’t expecting such a large increase in sales.
